At one of the Netherlands’ oldest municipal archives, the Gemeentearchief Roermond, you can explore the history of Roermond, access private archives concerning Roermond and learn about the local authorities and their work.
You can find a wide range of information in digital form from the comfort of your own home by using the search function on the top of this page. It will lead you directly to our main database on archieven.nl. However, not all of our collections are digitized yet. These collections can be consulted in our reading room. We have 3.8 kilometres of archival material, a beautiful historical and topographical collection of maps, drawings and prints, a library of approximately 15.000 titles as well as large newspaper and photographic archives – all ready for you to look at!
If this sounds interesting, if you are doing research on a subject related to Roermond, or if you simply want to learn more about your late relatives from Roermond, visit our reading room and dive into one or more of our many collections.
